Pattu Sarees is our traditional silk saree category, and it draws on several distinct regional weaving styles rather than a single generic "silk saree" template. Current stock includes Kanchipuram handloom silk with silk mark certification and gold zari korvai borders, Mangalagiri tissue silk with lightweight golden zari and Kanchi-style borders, Narayanpet cotton-silk sarees with zari elephant motifs and striped pallus, and Maheshwari silk-cotton sarees with woven buttas.

Because each of these is a named regional weaving tradition with its own border style, motif vocabulary, and typical weight, they suit different customer needs — Kanchipuram for bridal and heavy festive wear, Mangalagiri and Maheshwari for lighter festive or office-appropriate silk, Narayanpet for a handloom look at a more accessible price point.

What's Included

Most Pattu Sarees are listed with a contrast or matching blouse piece included — this is called out in the product description ("with Blouse Piece", "with Contrast Blouse") so resellers know upfront whether a customer receives a ready blouse piece or the saree alone. Saree lengths generally run 6 to 6.2 metres, standard for a draped saree with pallu.

This category is where most of our highest-value single pieces sit — Kanchipuram handloom silk sarees in particular carry premium pricing reflecting the weaving time and silk mark certification. If you resell into the wedding and festive segment specifically, Pattu Sarees is worth stocking alongside Designer Blouse and Lehenga, since customers shopping bridal wear are often comparing across all three categories for their full outfit.

As with every category, there's no minimum order quantity, so you can order a single Kanchipuram or Mangalagiri piece to assess weight, zari quality, and border work in hand before committing to a larger order for wedding season.

Understanding Silk Mark Certification

Silk Mark is an official certification issued by the Silk Mark Organisation of India confirming that a fabric is genuine natural silk rather than an artificial or blended substitute — it's a meaningful quality signal when reselling premium sarees, since customers shopping at this price point are often specifically asking whether a saree is certified pure silk. Where a listing notes silk mark certification, that's a claim you can pass directly to your customers with confidence.

Not every saree in this category carries silk mark certification — tissue silk, silk-cotton blends, and handloom cotton-silk sarees are genuine to their stated weave but aren't always separately certified the way pure Kanchipuram silk is, since certification is most relevant for 100% mulberry silk products specifically.

Caring for Silk Sarees

Pure silk sarees should be dry cleaned, particularly pieces with zari borders or korvai work, since home washing risks colour bleeding and zari tarnishing. Between wears, silk sarees should be stored folded in a breathable cotton cloth rather than plastic, away from direct sunlight and humidity, and refolded along different lines periodically to avoid permanent crease lines forming in the same place.

Zari — the metallic thread used in borders and motifs — tarnishes with prolonged exposure to moisture and direct sunlight, so sarees with heavy zari work benefit from being aired out and refolded every few months even when not worn, rather than left folded in storage indefinitely.
